Vineyards on Cape Cod

Vineyards are not often associated with Cape Cod, however, the sandy soil and ocean breezes make the Cape a perfect place to grow grapes. Cape Cod is home to two award winning vineyards, one in Falmouth and the other in Truro. The Cape Cod Winery on 681 Sandwich Road in East Falmouth is run by the Lazzari family and the wines they offer include Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Pinot Grigio. They offer tours and wine tasting. For more information call 509-457 5592 or visit www.capecodwinery.com.

The Truro Vineyards, located on 11 Shore Road (Route 6A) in North Truro is run by the Roberts family. Among the many wines they offer are Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, and Maritime Red, a blend of Zinfandel and Merlot. They also offer tours and wine tastings. For more information visit www.trurovineyardsofcapecod.com. Grape harvest time is from the last week in September to the beginning of October, so that might be a fun time to visit.

Fall is my favorite time on the Cape and and it's a perfect time to visit. We still have beautiful weather, but the crowds are gone and the rates drop! The Tidewater Inn will be offering our off season rates after Labor Day Weekend and the rates begin at $59.99. Hope to see you.
