Fall on the Cape.

Fall is my favorite season on the Cape. After a busy summer, everything slows down, the cooler weather arrives, the traffic improves and everything is still open. We even have beautiful foliage on the Cape. My favorite is the change of colors on the dunes as the plants turn from green to shades of rust, orange, purple, yellow, and red. Beautiful!

The best part for tourists is drastic drop in rates at hotels making it very affordable for those on a budget. At the Tidewater we run Manger's Specials in the fall with rates starting as low as two nights for $99. Give us a call and ask for our fall specials. 508-775-6322. We have a beautiful picnic area and an indoor heated pool. Come visit us and enjoy the beauty of Cape Cod at a fraction of the cost without the crowds.

There are activities for all ages, and faithful festival-goers dress up for the occasion and participate enthusiastically! Golf on Cape Cod

I booked four golf groups for spring this week. Golfers must dreaming of Golf this time of year! Cape Cod has been named one of the top ten golf destinations in the Northeast with more than 50 courses between Plymouth and Provincetown. With the mild Cape winters, the golf courses are usually open year-round. Throughout the winter and early spring, the courses remain playable and free of crowds and are more budget friendly. Many courses offer breathtaking views of Cape Cod Bay, the Atlantic, cranberry bogs, sand dunes and beaches.

The Tidewater has been hosting golf groups, both large and small, for over 20 years and is close to some of the best golf courses and walking distance to local restaurants. We can customize your golf vacation or use our local favorites.

So stop dreaming about golf and call us to plan your golf getaway! With our picnic and BBQ grills, heated pool, hot tub, and our 50's style diner, golfers enjoy getting together at the Tidewater, before and after golf. We have many groups who have already booked for April and May. Some of the golf groups have been coming for more than 20 years!

Call us at 508-775-6322 and ask for Voula. We'll take care of all the details.

For families, February school vacation is an opportunity to get away from the routines and spend quality time together. Cape Cod is a quick and affordable getaway. Bring the family to the Tidewater and enjoy our oversized indoor pool and hot tub. The weather has been so mild that families are also enjoying our picnic area and playground with its beautiful view of Mill Pond.  With our Manager's Special, The Tidewater is offering a very affordable getaway:

We are also offering our Family Fun Package which is a great way to spend the day with the kids:

Of course, you can relax around the pool or soak in the hot tub as you watch the kids swim in the pool. But there's also lots of activities for children and families during the week of February School Vacation. I will be listing some options that are family friendly. Of course, with this unseasonably warm weather, there's nothing better than a hike or walk on the beach with the kids. I'll be sure to keep you posted as I discover new activities.

The right whales are returning to the Cape earlier than usual this year. According the Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies several were seen on the Cape.  "They’ve probably been here for a fairly long time already,” noted Dr. Stormy Mayo, director of Right Whale Habitat Studies at the Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies.  Sunday afternoon, when the Center made the aerial track across the Bay, they spotted 12 endangered North Atlantic right whales, 2.4-percent of the entire world’s population, cavorting about. "That’s a big deal,” Mayo said. “I think we’re in a time of change. What’s happened particularly over the last four years, is Cape Cod Bay is more and more important to right whales. So much that half of the entire population has come into the Bay over the last four years. Considering we’re not out there all the time it’s probably more than that.” The estimated world population is about 510 whales, confined to the North Atlantic, primarily on this side.

When visiting Cape Cod make sure you make plans to go whale watching. Whale watching tours begin in April, just in time for April School Vacation. It's a perfect activity for families: it's fun, educational and affordable.  There are such frequent whale sightings in the Atlantic waters surrounding Cape Cod, that the World Wildlife Fund named Massachusetts one of the top 10 whale-watching spots in the world. The “wow factor” here is huge, as right whales, minke, finback, and humpback whales regularly glide through the waters, and glimpses of them spouting and breaching are practically guaranteed. Indeed, many local whale-watching companies declare a 99-percent whale-spotting success rate during the peak viewing months of April to October. Some of the best whale-watching adventures leave from Provincetown on Cape Cod, like Dolphin Fleet www.whales.com or http://www.whales.net/index.html

Aren't we lucky to be able to view such beautiful animals so close to home. Come to the Cape and watch this natural wonder. You can book a whale watch package with the Tidewater (508-775-6322) or make arrangements for whale watching on your own. Both the Dolphin Fleet in Provincetown (800-442-3188) and Hyannis Whale Watcher Cruises of Barnstable Harbor (888-942-5392) offer excursions.
