Theatre on Ice On Cape

Who would have thought that we would have world class figure skating on Cape Cod. On April 6th through the 8th, hundreds of skaters from all over the world will compete in the US Figure Skating-sanctioned second Nations Cup which will take in Hyannis! This will be the very first time the international Theatre on Ice event is held on American soil and the Hyannis Youth & Community Center (HYCC) will be the main rink where teams from as far away as France, Spain, Russia, Switzerland, Ukraine and Australia will compete. After the Olympic-style closing ceremonies and medal presentations, the fourth Theatre on Ice National Competition will take place on April 9 and 10. Thirty to fifty teams from all over the United States will be competing. Tickets are $45 till April 1, when they'll increase to $60. (There are discounts for seniors and students.) Ghosts on Cape Cod

Halloween is just around the corner and what would be better than a "Haunted History Tour" or a "Ghost Hunter's Tour". You will go on a walking tour of Barnstable Village with professional Ghost Hunters. You will stop and hear the haunting tales that plague the town. You will then have the opportunity to investigate a known haunted cemetery. The evening includes a three-hour walking tour (or longer) of the village's haunted locations and participants will visit places such as Crocker Tavern, Barnstable Court House and the Old Jail. You will learn how to do EVP's (Electronic Voice Phenomenon) also know as "recording voices of the dead" inside the cemetery. You will also get to use some sensory equipment to "detect" paranormal activity. One stop on the tour has had some local's spooked...it is called "The House of 11 Ghosts" or the town knows it as "The Barnstable House".

North American Sea Glass Festival on Cape Cod

I love walking on the beach. When walking I'm always on the lookout for shells or more recently, beach glass. I have collected mainly green pieces but do have one white and one blue that I keep on my coffee table. I never realized that there were so many people who are avid "Sea Glass" collectors. I saw an article in Parade Magazine about a month ago about the variety of sea glass and which are the most common and rare. There is actually an annual festival (2010 Sea Glass Festival) sponsored by the North American Sea Glass Association which will be held in Hyannis this year at the Resort & Conference Center on Saturday October 9 and 10th from 10am to 6pm. Worth a visit! Happy beach walking.
