Kid Friendly Rainy Day Activities

Last day of rain on Cape Cod! Will clear on Thursday...if you need more rainy
day activities we have a print out that we give to customers at the front desk. In addition to the museums that I listed and the Cape Cod Central Railroad fun train you can take the kids to Ryan Entertainment Center for bowling, billiards at Classical Billiards, Bonkerz Party Zone for the young (2-12), and Jump on Us for trampoline fun. These are all indoors and fun for kids and families. All are located in Yarmouth.

Also taking a tour of the very popular Cape Cod Chip factory in Hyannis is fun. When finished you even get a free sample! We still have some rooms for the weekend at the Tidewater. Give us a call at 508-775-6322 for reservations.

Rainy Day Activities on Cape Cod

We've had an absolutely amazing weather this summer... but the rain finally arrived. Feels like a tropical storm. I read an article in the Boston Globe about the wonderful museums on the Cape. Unfortunately when people visit the Cape, museums are not on their mind since beaches are the main attraction. With the predicted rainy weather the next couple of days, maybe it's a good opportunity to visit some of wonderful museums.

The Cape Cod Central Railroad has one of the most romantic events on the Cape, the Elegant Dinner Train, "where every table is a window view." You can sit back and relax as you dine on a 50-mile long journey from Hyannis to the Canal. Soft music and fresh flower enhance the five course gourmet meal which has been freshly prepared on board. The dinner train crosses the Cape Cod Canal railroad bridge into the quaint village of Buzzards Bay. This unique dining experience has been featured on the Food Network for "dining excellence". Many of my guests who have experienced this wonderful dinner train have raved about it. According to one guest, the only problem was the drinks sliding as the train negotiated some turns! Sounds like fun.

This is an adult only dinner and reservations are required. The train departs from Hyannis at 6:30 PM and returns at 9:30PM. Reserved online at www.capetrain.com or call 888-797-7245.

Cape Cod Stampede

If you're into the "cowboy" thing, this is the weekend to visit Cape Cod. It's bull riding, bronco riding, barrel racing and more western fun at the Barnstable Fairgrounds on August 14th and 15th. There will be professional rodeo performances and country music shows in addition to a BBQ and chili contest. In addition to having a good time, you will be contributing to a worthy cause. This event is a fund-raiser for the Dana-Farber Cancer. For more information visit their website, http://www.couwboyspirit.org/wp/?page_id=192.

Last Gasp Cape Beer Bash

On Friday, August 27, from 5-9pm, Cape Cod Charitable FunRaisers (CCCF) and the six beneficiaries it represents will host the Last Gasp Cape Cod Beer Bash at the Cape Cod Beer brewery, 1336 Phinney’s Lane, in Hyannis. The Jeff Lowe band will perform, the Breakaway Grill will serve food, and the brewery will have plenty of beer on hand. Wine and non alcoholic drinks will also be available. The event is one of several to benefit Cape and Islands United Way, Cape Cod Child Development, Champ Homes, the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, Hospice & Palliative Care of Cape Cod, and Kiwanis of Sandwich and Hyannis. Other CCCF events include three annual landmark fundraisers: the March Roll the Rock Bowling Tournament at Ryan Family Amusements in South Yarmouth, the September Last Gasp Bike, Boat, ‘n’ Bake (now in its nineteenth year), and the Spectacle of Trees held at the Kennedy Museum in Hyannis during the December Holiday Stroll. All proceeds from all CCCF events go to its beneficiaries. Tickets are $15.

“This Beer Bash is the latest in a long line of fun events to support six extraordinary non profit organizations that work tirelessly to serve our community,” says Bill Murphy, who leads Cape Cod Charitable FunRaisers. “There’s no reason that doing good can’t be both fun and rewarding. Thanks to a very generous and hardworking staff at Cape Cod Beer, we are looking forward to a wonderful party with lots of food, beer, and music … plus a live and silent auction … with 100% of the proceeds going to our six beneficiaries. For $15, you get food, drink, and fun, not to mention the satisfaction of helping those who help others.”

Cape Cod Beer Brewery is located just north of the intersection of Rte. 132 and Phinney's Lane in Hyannis, about one mile east of Exit 6. For more information about the Beer Bash and other CCCF events and sponsors, please visit www.thelastgasp.com or contact Bill Murphy at 508-420-4030, funraiser@thelastgasp.com. CCCF • P.O.
